UX/UI Designer

Job description

Some people don't believe in magic. Others have lost their faith in tech. At Tover, our trust in both grows each day. One smile at a time. One game at a time. Co-designing purposeful games that delight and stimulate people with cognitive challenges, calls for a full-hearted approach and an inventive mindset. Our solutions may be playful, but we solve serious care and education issues. To maximise our impact, we need to enthuse care providers, teachers, and researchers globally. By inspiring them with relevant metrics. By constantly reinventing our propositions. And by always putting smiles on users' faces. Ready to infuse your career with a healthy dose of purpose? Dare to care with us!

What is your purpose?

To ideate and develop prikkelende UX/UI designs. Yes, that’s a Dutch word. Yes, Google Translate gives 19 translations for it. And, yes, all apply. 😉 Similarly, there’s more to this role than the job title might suggest. At Tover, we don’t make ‘ordinary’ games for ‘ordinary’ people: we co-create purposeful games that inspire and put a smile on the faces of over 1,000,000 people with cognitive challenges. More than this, our games demonstrably improve our players’ long-term quality of life. Whether you zoom in on the Tovertafel UI or focus on My Tover (our online portal with instructional videos, tips and more), your every user flow, wireframe, prototype, mock-up, and design will help us deliver on our promise to positively impact their lives. Do you want to infuse your already awe-inspiring UX/UI portfolio with a more profound sense of purpose? Help us create and cultivate wonder, excitement and connections between people!

The TL;DR version

  • Own the end-to-end design funnel (aim straight for the light): understand user needs, frame issues, ideate flows and high-fidelity prototypes, and come up with spot-on designs
  • Be the digital design system’s revered champion and most ardent ambassador: evolve the design system and visual style guide, e.g. by incorporating best practices for responsive web design
  • Validate designs by testing them exhaustively with our customers (care and education professionals), using both quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Team up with developers to produce high-quality, prikkelende interactive experiences
  • Collaborate with designers, product owners, and business stakeholders: present your designs and explain the choices and decision-making process that went into them
  • Define, evolve, and document our digital design system, including our visual design guide
  • Measure the success of your design decisions and ‘correct course’ if and when needed

Job requirements

What you bring to the Tovertafel

  • At least 3 years of UX/UI experience in fluid, multifaceted complex stakeholder environments: this isn’t your first design system rodeo
  • Your digital designs are as elegant as they are accessible, and responsive to boot
  • You can translate strategic insights and fragile ideas into inspiring and robust concepts that developers are proud to realise
  • User-interface designs and wireframe tools (e.g., Sketch / Adobe Creative Suite) are your home away from home. If you understand HTML and CSS, great!
  • Masterful balancing of user, business, and technical needs
  • You are versed in design thinking, user-centric design principles, agile, and Kanban
  • An ability to create and implement design systems and style guides that are greeted with applause by colleagues: they facilitate progress without stifling creativity
  • You thrive in a fluid, multidisciplinary setting, where feedback loops are a given, and English is often the language of choice
  • You get all warm and fuzzy when your designs resonate with our target audiences and the people that support and enable them

    What’s in it for you?
  • A salary up to €4500,- a month and 25 paid holidays days for full-time.
  • Non-stop development opportunities: when you grow, we grow, so the sky is the limit.
  • Fun company events, and drinks on our rooftop terrace with great views of Utrecht.
  • NS Business Card, laptop and all facilities for a pleasant home office.
  • An inspiring home away from home, in the old court building next to the Dom.
  • The opportunity to infuse your CV with a generous measure of purpose.
